ABOUT NORTH EAST BEFRIENDING AND PET THERAPY SERVICES

We offer Befriending and Pet Therapy Services throughout Durham and the North East of England, helping people with various issues including; loneliness, isolation, mental health problems, disabilities, dementia, strokes and complex health needs.

Our support packages can be booked for a minimum of two hours and are designed to be a lifetime service, with both male and female 1 to 1 ‘befrienders’ available.

If you would like more information, please visit our Befriending Page or Pet Therapy Page to find out more. We also offer assessments and home visits prior to support starting, please get in touch if you would like to discuss this with us.

Our aim is to provide a brief outline for the services of Befriending and Pet Therapy. At a later stage, we organize a formal meeting to discuss the suitability of the services offered by Befriending with professionals in the health, social care, and voluntary sector. This is very informal and doesn’t commit you to use the service. We will explain how we work and arrange a visit to the potential service user. If both parties feel that the service will be valuable, we can arrange a start date for the service and begin the matching process. The Befriending project is to provide companionship for older people at home, who may be feeling isolated and lonely, and for people of all ages with mental health problems
