PET THERAPY IN RESIDENTIAL AND SUPPORTED LIVING HOMES
ABOUT OUR PET THERAPY SERVICES
HOW IT CAN HELP
We believe that our Pet Therapy Service can improve a person’s sense of purpose and self worth, communication skills, social skills, self esteem, trust and respect.
Animal assisted therapy has proven to be of benefit to people suffering from mental health issues, stress, bereavement, emotional problems and loneliness.
OUR PETS
We have a large range of therapy pets include various breeds of dogs, cats, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hedgehogs and a tortoise. All of our animal pets have a lovely temperament.
WHAT HAPPENS?
Structured sessions can be introduced to involve specific goals for the client/ patient which we can assist with.
Examples of goals, which are always set in agreement with the individual, include: improvement in gross movements, such as trunk or limb mobility through reaching out to stroke dogs or throwing an object to retrieve.
Fine motor movements: for example, movement of the hand or fingers through clipping and unclipping of leads or collars.
Sessions can be delivered in 1 to 1 or a group setting. We also offer phobia sessions too.
